I do not promise that all the information will leap from the page at you like those of a mystery novel, but I will promise you that when the words on the following pages collide with your gray matter, there will be an information explosion. Few African-American financial advisers endeavor to put this type of information together; however, the popularity of the lottery in Black culture proves that we want to be wealthy, and that we want to live a comfortable life in our retirement. After reading this book, I feel confident that you can realize those dreams. Consider this book your lottery ticket with much better odds. I have read over twenty books and a litany of magazine articles addressing financial planning, but none of them addresses core socioeconomic issues that are exclusive to Black Americans. Let s be real, Black Americans and white Americans are different and society treats them accordingly. Financial planning and investment strategies historically have not been dinner table conversation in most Black homes. I agree with Toni Morrison, who is credited for saying, If there is a book that you want to read, and it hasn t been written, you must write it. So here we are. With all due respect to my fellow Black authors, enough books on making us feel good about ourselves have been written. I have never been more passionate about anything in my life, with the exception of trying to be a good father. I believe that if we Blacks had a blueprint on how to invest effectively, it would force us to become more active in investing and take a more proactive role in becoming educated in investment strategies. This would also force Black America to become more politically aware as to who is truly looking out for our best interests. Financial literacy would empower Black America on a global level, whereby we would not be recognized solely as the largest group of consumers in the United States. Furthermore, the more financially literate we are as a people, the better prepared our children will be in redefining, and reshaping the new American dream.
